Uitmarkt august 26 - 27 Leidseplein, Museumplein.  At the end of each summer the Uitmarkt launches the national cultural season. This dynamic happening provides a preview of what's on offer in theatre, cabaret, dance, pop music, classical music, opera, mime, children's theatre, street theatre and film. The Dutch love massive celebrations and the Uitmarkt, which is attended annually by some 500,000 people, is no exception. It comes as no surprise that the Uitmarkt is considered to be the biggest cultural event in the Netherlands. This year it will feature hundreds of performances and concerts which will be presented in a number of locations around Leidseplein and Museumplein. All of the performances are free, and the atmosphere resembles that of a big delightful street party. In addition to the cultural potpourri, an Information Market is held where some 250 cultural institutions are represented to inform the public about their new activities for the coming season.
